Played piano in a 'dance band' when at school; then in a Scottish Country Dance Band when at Uni in Dundee, Scotland. I 'play by ear' (or rather 'from chords') and can't read music.

Of course we all associate this number with Elvis Presley. In my version I have used two Yamaha STYLES, both on MAIN B. The first (12-8 Ballad) has an 'arpeggio' in the backing; and the second (6-8 Slow Rock 1) has a 'repeating piano'. These two STYLES make a great contrast in the two parts of the song. I have also brought in a LEFT HAND VOICE a...

Handel's Largo played on a Tyros 4 using a FREE PLAY STYLE.

This is a mixture of 'Summertime' (composed by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess) and 'St. Louis Blues' (from the 1929 American film starring Bessie Smith).

Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue - Has Anybody Seen My Gal?

Trumpet Voluntary in D Major by Jeremiah Clarke (The Prince of Denmark's March) played by Mark Burbridge on a Yamaha AR80 Organ.

“Only You” was sung by The Platters in 1955.
This piece uses the Jazz Saxophone which is a SA2 (Super Articulation 2) VOICE. By activating ART1 just before playing a melody note it ‘slides up’ to the note. I have used this feature in this recording.

Widor Toccata from Symphony No: 5 for Organ, Op.42 played by Mark Burbridge on Yamaha AR80 organ.

Michael Row The Boat Ashore played with the 'default' BASS from the STYLE. The bass player is just playing the ROOT and FIFTH all the time .. until he gets to the verse with the Guitar, where he does a little 'skip' (hooray!). Trouble is, the bass note is ROOT, ROOT, ROOT all the time!

A medley of two songs .. Whispering; and Love Letters In The Sand. I have used a voice called WhisperGallery with the Piano for the melody. I love that vibraphone in Love Letters In The Sand, as with the Tyros 4 the vibraphone pans across from right to left depending on where you play the melody. When the backing suddenly changes to emphasising EVE...

I have played "Michael Row The Boat Ashore" on a Tyros 4, programming a MULTIPAD to play the Bass PART. This gives a bass part more in keeping with what a real bass player would play (fitting the song) rather than an automated 'pattern' from Yamaha that repeats every few bars.

Sung by Louis Armstrong. I have added a REPEATING PIANO to thIs STYLE. This is what 'makes' the song (apart from the harmonies, of course, which are GORGEOUS!).

Michael Row The Boat Ashore recorded WITHOUT any BASS part (as a WAV file). The idea here is to DOWNLOAD the file, and using the AUDIO MULTITRACKING facility in a Yamaha keyboard, add your own BASS line whilst listening to the song. Then MIXDOWN on the keyboard, which turns it back into a normal stereo WAV file. This way, musicians can collaborate...

Played on my Yamaha AR80 organ. The 'answering phrases' were done by making a 'double recording' ie. first recording the piece 'as is', and then adding those phrases whilst listening to the recording playing back.

Tracks: I'll Walk Alone; Mistakes; Nice To Know You Care; Dream.

Medley: Baby Face / Hello Mary Lou / Milord / I'm Looking Over A Four Leafed Clover

A Jim Reeves number. Played on my Tyros 4 using four different STYLES; and having two SPLIT POINTS. R3 alternates between Ambient Piano and Whistle to provide a 'counter melody'.

The little 'counter melody' with Strings in two of the verses was created using a MULTIPAD.
Note: If you wish to DOWNLOAD the MP3 for this song, click on the three little dots on the right ... a 'Download' option will appear.

This has been done WITHOUT the Multipad CHORD MATCH on .. so any notes played are thrown back at you 'as is'. So the piece HAS to be played in G.

The BASS to this has been MULTITRACKED using the AUDIO RECORDER/PLAYER on a Yamaha Tyros 4.

Played taking particular note of the harmony of the piece.

Paul Dolman playing "What I Did For Love" on my Yamaha AR80 organ. Played with a Piano voice, "Charlie Kunz Style" - with a hint of organ on the melody.
