Rev. Dave Moorman

Retired United Methodist Clergy, half-baked philosopher, videographer, computer programmer, author, and composer. My music is (I hope) emotion-provoking and mildly -orchestral but too modern to be called "classical.".

A piece dedicated to those Called and Ordained in the Ministry of the United Methodist Church

Enter into a simple poetic work that describes peaceful country life. This is one of my earlier MuseScore song, written in 2017. The title started with the word "Bayou" because it sounded cool. Then I added "Idyll" to imply the strange, quiet country of swamps and rugged beauty.

The sound of a mistake in progress.

I've been studying music theory and came across the idea of the "mediant," a chord progression involving a third - major or minor. So I strung together seven such steps. The melody was at first a bit of random rhythm and pitches. Fair enough. Not my favorite attempt, but not so bad.

A haunting melody opens the possibilities of orchestral-based music.

Someday, I will write a true masterpiece. Today is not that day.

As I listen to my music from over the last six or seven years, some pieces jump up and desperately want to be re-digitized with MusicScore 4 (with remarkably realistic instruments). This is also a chance to work with dynamics and stereo positioning of the sections.

A bit of melody, hastily put into this "music processor," then monkeyed with until it worked. Repeat it with harmonies. A second variation, then DS back to the original. Then for something entirely different - a rather strange and incoherent chord progression - chorused with two horns and grounded with the tuba. Added the trumpet - and modified the...

A little tune that went and became rather full of itself.

Composed in 2010-2011 in Sundance, WY. This began as two piano pieces that resembled each other so much, I mashed them together.

Tis the Season to laugh in the face of darkness, and watch as our hopes come into being.

The stockings are on the floor, wrapping is everywhere, the turkey is in the oven, and family and friends will be arriving soon.

All is well. We are the traditions, customs, and rituals we keep. From the procession bringing our effigy to the temple, to the feast, to the excitement of sport, to cherished moments lighting candles in the dark.

Here's a cute little song entitled "Cute Song." This is clearly a a beginner's piano piece - and can be downloaded from:
