Vixen: A Rockin' All-Female Force

Vixen, a name synonymous with powerful, hard-hitting rock 'n' roll, has been rocking stages and taking the world by storm since their formation in the 1980s. This all-female band has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the music industry, defying stereotypes and paving the way for women in rock.

Formed in 1980 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Vixen initially consisted of Jan Kuehnemund on guitar, Janet Gardner on lead vocals, Roxy Petrucci on drums, and Share Pedersen on bass. These talented musicians united their passion for rock music and created a sound that was both fierce and seductive, earning them a dedicated following from the get-go.

After relentless touring and honing their craft, Vixen finally caught the attention of major labels, leading to the release of their self-titled debut album in 1988. This album propelled the band into the spotlight, garnering significant success with hits such as "Edge of a Broken Heart" and "Cryin'." Their distinct blend of heavy guitar riffs, catchy melodies, and Gardner's powerful vocals became their signature sound.

Vixen's lineup saw some changes over the years, but their commitment to rocking out never wavered. In 1990, guitarist Gina Stile joined the band, replacing Kuehnemund. This new lineup released their second studio album, "Rev It Up," which featured fan favorites like "Love Is a Killer" and "How Much Love." Despite the album's critical acclaim, the early '90s marked a difficult period for rock music, and eventually, the band took a hiatus.

Fast forward to 1997, when Roxy Petrucci reformed Vixen with Janet Gardner, along with newcomers Kat Kraft on bass and Pat Holloway on guitars. This lineup revitalized the band's sound and carried the torch into the new millennium, captivating audiences with their live performances and releasing a new album, "Live & Learn," in 2006.

Tragically, in 2013, founding member Jan Kuehnemund passed away after battling cancer. The loss of Kuehnemund deeply affected the entire Vixen family, but they decided to carry on her legacy. With Kuehnemund's blessing, the remaining members press forward and honor her memory through their music.

Adding exponential talent to their lineup, Vixen recruited Britt Lightning as their lead guitarist in 2017. This fresh infusion of energy brought a new dynamic to the band, allowing them to continue rocking stages worldwide. In 2018, Vixen released "Live Fire," a live album that showcased their unrivaled energy and connection with their fans.

Vixen's music, filled with empowering anthems and captivating performances, has inspired generations of women to pursue their dreams in music. Their resilience and unrelenting determination to succeed in a male-dominated industry have become an emblem of female empowerment.

And if I wanna cry I don't need your shoulder
Did you think that I'm a dime a dance, well the dance is through
I been doing things your way too long, but baby that's over (baby that's over)
I been living on the edge of a broken heart
I can't believe I could've been so blind, but love is strange
I don't wanna fall, I don't wanna crawl
I don't wanna fall, I don't wanna crawl
I thought about it for a long long time, but the truth remains
I'll find someone else who's nothing like you
