If there is no normal breathing, or if you are unsure, immediately alert the resuscitation team. Start resuscitation. Begin by giving 30 chest compressions. Place the heel of your hand on the center of the chest and press straight down. Push the sternum about 5 to 6 centimeters with a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. After 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths. Place the mask or ventilation bag and tilt the head to open the airway. Blow air into the valve for 1 second.
